That famous victory over Boston in 2007 is one of only two we’ve enjoyed in six matches against them. We first played them in August 2002, and both games that season ended in draws. Our opening encounter, at The Racecourse, was a 1-1 draw despite Lee Trundle opening the scoring for us, and the return match saw Trundle continue his goal scoring form against The Pilgrims.

Once again he opened the scoring, but we found ourselves 3-1 down just after the hour. Brian Carey pulled one back, and Trundle completed the scoring to earn a 3-3 draw.

When we next met, on the opening day of the 2005-6 season, we earned an impressive 2-0 win, with Mark Jones scoring a typically spectacular opener and Lee Roche chipping in with the only goal of his Wrexham career.

However our next two clashes ended in away defeats. In November 2005, Lee McEvilly scored in a 2-1 loss, and a year later we were hammered 4-0 at York Street. United were always on top, but after Steve Evans’ wild challenge on Drewe Broughton we were down to ten men and Broughton, who the following season would sign for Wrexham, helped himself to two second half goals.
