So what’s changed in the last week? Well, not that much: everyone stuttered except for Stockport County, who weren’t impressive but managed to nick a win against AFC Wimbledon.
Of course, the timing of the Easter Monday fixtures probably made us feel worse than everyone else: having seen our rivals stumble, we had a chance to really take a grip on the promotion race, but didn’t take it. Still, to keep it in perspective, we’ll still have matters in our own hands tomorrow night, regardless of the result in Colchester. Also, by then we’ll have four games left, and only one will be away from the SToK Cae Ras. We need to make sure we don’t suffer a relapse of the Harrogate/Tranmere situation (you know, that week we don’t mention.)
Mansfield’s home game with Accrington was postponed, so like league leaders Stockport and Barrow they’re going to have to play Saturday-Tuesday until the last week of the season. Barrow suffered defeat at Morecambe last Monday, but their next two games are against teams in very poor form, so they’ll hope to get some momentum going before a tricky run-in of 3 away games and then a final day showdown against Mansfield.
