collecting-tin[1]Today’s the match I fear the most every season. Not because we’re playing Luton, although that’s usually pretty scary as we all know! It’s the collection for the Hospital Radio Football Commentary, and the nerves have been jangling all week.

We commentate on Wrexham’s home games for the Maelor Hospital patients and the club generously allocates us a match day collection in order to help cover our costs. Since we upgraded to an ISDN line in order to ensure the commentary comes through loud and clear, those costs are big. Real big!!

So I’m always nervous leading up to the collection. The Supporters Association generously underwrite the commentary’s costs, but the more we can raise the better. The week leading up to the collection is an anxious attempt to get collectors together and make sure everything’s in order. With a bit of luck, at 2.58 I might be able to start thinking about the match.

So thank you in advance if you’re at the match and you’re able to give something, no matter what the amount. I can assure you that every penny will go towards providing the best possible service to those people who are unfortunate enoough to be missing out on Andy Morrell’s  push for the double.
