collecting-tin[1]

It’s the annual match day collection for the Wrexham Supporters Association’s Hospital Broadcast today, so if you’re able to spare some change for our collectors, we’d be massively grateful. You can also donate via Paypal: send donations to carroll.clark@btopenworld.com

We’ve been commentating for Maelor Hospital since the 1950s – indeed the broadcast, which was established and funded by the Supporters Association, actually pre-dates the hospital radio station! We had lines installed and piped the match directly into the wards until the station was established.

Our bills are pretty big though. Since we upgraded to an ISDN line in order to give listeners the best possible sound quality, we’ve naturally been faced with much larger costs. So our collection really is crucial to enable us to continue broadcasting. That’s why, in many ways, this is the biggest day of the season for us.

There’ll be another collection at the ground today, of course. The sponsored run for Jacko takes place this morning and they’ll be raising funds for one of the Reds most staunch supporters. In fact, that doesn’t do him justice: Jacko is an iconic figure at The Racecourse. How wonderful to see that the money has already been pouring in online to help as I’d despair if we failed to gather round to help him when he needs us.
