Well, that was torture wasn’t it?

Battling away against a side which is in the bottom four but has kept two clean sheets in its last two games, at a venue which is always forbidding, and having to do it with ten men for the last half hour. Getting a win in those circumstances, especially as Grimsby, Mansfield and Kidderminster all won, could turn out to be one of those massive moments in the season. The identity of the scorer will delight a lot of people on Red Passion as well!

I hope it turns out to be a night we can look back on fondly and not a pyrrhic victory though. I was only saying yesterday that we can’t afford to lose Jay Harris for any length of time: well, now we’ll lose him for a worrying chunk of the run-in. Three games for violent play and, I assume, a fourth for a second red card of the season. If I’m right, that’s Alfreton, Ebbsfleet, Dartford and Lincoln, so he’ll at least be back for the run of games against sides near the top of the table that’s coming up: he’ll have to negotiate games against Luton and Mansfield without further trouble to avoid missing the FA Trophy final.

Admittedly Mansfield spoiled the night a little by getting a last gasp winner at Lincoln, but considering the manner of our victory, we can hardly complain if they did the same, can we? And, despite a half time appearance off the bench by new signing Lee Fowler, Forest Green lost, leaving their hopes of kicking on to win the title suddenly looking rather tenuous.
